Nashville Armory
Nashville, Tennessee
The new Nashville Armory (NashvilleArmory.com) store was almost completely sold out of tactical rifles when I visited today. Not a problem for me since I was shopping for a small 9mm. Probably going to get the Ruger or the Kahr, but might shell out a bit more and get the Smith & Wesson.

Blue Sky
Williamson County, Tennessee
Shot this photo as a rainstorm moved in today. Didn’t quite capture the color I saw so I played with it in digital processing and created a color-over-saturated version of the scene I saw.

The “Lipton Lights”
Franklin, Tennessee
A fantastic light display synced to music broadcast on low-power radio to people sitting in their cars watching the lights. Here are videos from LiptonLights.com. (The name is because of the street address of the house.)

A close-up of my Winchester 1890, a classic slide-action .22 rifle. I first shot this when I was about 12. Confession: Sometimes, when I was a little older, I’d use this to shoot rabbits in the garden instead of the air rifle. I just hand-loaded it with .22 short-short cartridges (which were too small to work in the tubular magazine). The sound was not much louder than the air rifle, so I didn’t get in trouble even though the shooting the air rifle was legal in the Philly suburb where I lived, and the .22 wasn’t. It was, however, much more effective against the rabbits in the garden.
The rifle was my Dad’s, and before that it was his Dad’s. The John Browning-designed rifle was made from 1890 through 1941. Based on the serial number and a Winchester database, mine was one of the last Winchester 1890s made, in 1941.
